THIS POST IS INTENDED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE FILED THEIR 2019 AND 2020 U.S. TAX RETURNS AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEIR REFUND

Quite a few people are receiving this letter from the IRS. It states that a $1200 check (or some other amount) was sent to the person concerned and that it was never cashed and that it has now expired, meaning that it cannot be cashed anymore.

If you have received this letter, you can do one of the following so that a new check can be sent to you:

  1. Call the IRS on 001-267-941-1000 as indicated in the letter. Please be aware that is quite difficult to get through the IRS. They are open from 7am to 7pm U.S. Eastern Time.

  1. Complete Form 3911 and mail it to the IRS at:

DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY

INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE

AUSTIN, TX 73301-0215

U.S.A.

The form can be downloaded here:

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f3911.pdf

You should receive the missing check within 3 to 4 months after you call or mail Form 3911.
