Stimulus Payments – Economic Impact Payments – EIP (U.S.)
When COVID-19 hit the world in early 2020, the global economy took a big hit as lockdowns and travel restrictions were imposed worldwide.
To mitigate the financial burden many families were going through due to the massive layoffs and reduced working hours that followed, many governments decided to offer financial assistance.
The U.S. government approved three Stimulus Payments (also known as Economic Impact Payments – EIP) to anyone having a valid Social Security Number, even if the place of residence happens to be outside the U.S.:
Stimulus payment 1 – approved in March 2020: $1,200 (children = $500) per person
Stimulus payment 2 – approved in January 2021: $600 (children = $600) per person
Stimulus payment 3 – approved in March 2021: $1,400 (children = $1,400) per person
That’s a total of $3,200 per adult and $2,500 for children.

In case you qualify, and you or any other member of your family have not received any of the above or are missing any payments, we can help you to receive them.
Here is what you need to do:
- You need to have a valid US Social Security Number.
- You need to be up to date with your US tax return filings for at least the last 3 years – i.e., 2019, 2020 and 2021. You can still file these past 3 years tax returns and declare your worldwide income..
- Please note that the latest date you can file your 2019 tax return is July 15, 2023. If you are due a refund for withholding or estimated taxes, you must file your return to claim it within 3 years of the return due date. The deadline for the 2019 tax return was July 15, 2020, and therefore you can still file your 2019 until July 15, 2023.
The same deadline applies to the right to claim tax credits such as the Earned Income Credit.
We can help you file your U.S. tax return for 2019, 2020 and 2021, to be eligible for ALL 3 Stimulus Payments approved so far.
You will need to complete and send us the forms mentioned below as well as any required documents, along with a copy of your Social Security Card (plus your marriage certificate, if your Social Security Card still has your maiden name on it).
Step 1: Please complete the Personal Information Sheet – 2022 tax year.
Step 2: Please read the form called Documents Needed To File Form 1040 and Related Forms – 2022 tax year and gather the forms that are required to file your U.S. tax return.
Step 3: If you have bank accounts or other financial investments OUTSIDE the U.S., and the TOTAL amount of ALL COMBINED bank/investment accounts (including Life Insurance Policies) under your name, whether it is a single or joint account, was more than $10,000 at any time during the tax year in question, we will need you to complete the Financial Accounts Form – 2022 tax year and upload it.
Step 4: You also need to report any interest/dividends/capital gains from any fixed/investment accounts.
Step 5: Read the attached FATCA Infosheet to understand why we are asking for this bank/investment information. It sounds quite scary, but it is not in reality.
Step 6: If you do not have a bank account in the U.S., please read below and install the Wise app on your mobile.
To avoid mail delays/losses when a paper check is mailed, we suggest that you download an app called Wise and open a US$ account by transferring $20 from any Debit or Credit Card to open the account. Banks in the U.S. use routing numbers, a feature that Wise has. You will need to upload an ID document and a selfie holding the ID document in front of you. It is like having a bank account in the U.S.
The Wise account setup process takes about 20 minutes. After you are approved, you will need to send us your Wise US$ account details so that we can instruct the IRS to send any refund/Stimulus Payment due directly to your Wise account. Any money owed to the IRS can be debited from there as well.
You should receive your money within 21 days from when your tax return is electronically filed. You can then transfer the funds to any bank or debit/credit card in any country immediately. If you receive a paper check, you will have to wait days or weeks for the check to clear before you can use your money, besides paying a hefty commission to the check cashing bank/agency.
Please click here for more information on the Wise app. Let us know if you need any help. We will be glad to assist you.
