The U.S. tax filing deadline for tax year 2020 has been extended to May 17. Please read on if you are interested in receiving a total of $3,200 (approximately €2,800) in Stimulus Payments (also known as Economic Impact Payment – EIP).

The only way to receive all 3 Stimulus Payments approved so far, is to be up to date with your U.S. tax filings, unless you already receive a U.S. Social Security Retirement or Disability pension

If you:

– have never filed a U.S. tax return

– still have not filed your 2020 tax return

– filed your 2019 tax return and still have not received all of the Stimulus Payments due you

then, you need to e-file your 2020 tax return as soon as possible.

After May 17, the only way to file your U.S. tax return will be by regular mail. Your tax return will take much longer to be processed. Some people who filed their 2019 tax return by mail last year are still waiting for it to be processed due to a huge backlog of paper tax returns currently being experienced at the IRS.

By filing your 2020 U.S. tax return now, you will also be automatically eligible to receive any future Stimulus Payments that might be approved in the future.
