The 2022 U.S. tax season for Tax Year 2021 will soon open. Keep an eye on this page for more details in the coming days.

Please refer to the article below to see if you are required to file your 2021 tax year U.S. return.

In general, if you are a U.S. citizen or a Green Card holder (Alien Resident), and your worldwide income is over €10,500, then you are required to file. This total includes any salary or self-employment income and investment interest/dividends earned outside the U.S.

It does not include U.S. Social Security pension income for most persons.

Anyone who still has not received the third Stimulus Payment of $1400 will be able to claim it on the 2021 U.S. tax return.

Those who still have not received any of the first two Stimulus Payments ($1200 and $600) have two options:

  1. a) wait a few more weeks until the IRS finally sends them, or

  1. b) call the IRS on 001 267 941 1000 and ask them why they still have not received them. They are open from 7am to 7pm U.S. Eastern Time (1pm to 1am Central European Time). The best time to call is as soon as they open and about 30 minutes before they close. Otherwise expect long delays before you speak to a live person.
